Tacy kompozytorzy jak Jarre czy Vangelis do dziś mają wielu fanów, chociaż nie wydają już oni tak spektakularnych, odkrywczych albumów jak dawniej. Niektórzy odeszli w niebyt jak Edgar Froese, inni chorują w artystycznej lub fizycznej niemocy. 

 Inaczej ma się sprawa z muzyką jaką proponuje Steve Jolliffe. Ten niezwykle utalentowany Anglik od wielu lat regularnie wydaje nowy materiał na bardzo wysokim poziomie. Autorskie płyty cd-rom czy też pliki ze swoją muzyką sprzedaje za pomocą internetu, idąc niejako z duchem czasu. Płyta Lost and Returned wydana w tym roku jest bardzo dobra. Jolliffe po mistrzowsku tworzy kolaże brzmień instrumentów klasycznych z nowoczesną elektroniką wprowadzając słuchacza w rodzaj pozytywnego transu. Niezależnie od instrumentu dominującego w danej chwili, Steve uwodzi odbiorcę siłą swojej artystycznej wizji. Tworzy klimat któremu trudno się oprzeć.   In the 1970s, classical electronic music was something new and captivating. Composers such as Jarre or Vangelis still have many fans, although they do not release such spectacular, revealing albums as before. Some have fallen into oblivion like Edgar Froese, others are ill with artistic or physical infirmity.

    The situation is different with the music proposed by Steve Jolliffe. This extremely talented Englishman has been regularly releasing new material at a very high level for many years. He sells his original cd-roms or files with his music via the Internet, keeping up with the times. Lost and Returned released this year is very good. Jolliffe masterfully creates collages of sounds from classical instruments with modern electronics, introducing the listener to a kind of positive trance. Regardless of the instrument that dominates at the moment, Steve seduces the viewer with the power of his artistic vision. It creates an atmosphere that is difficult to resist. It invites you on a journey full of secrets and acoustic surprises. A space is created which is filled with art. Contact with her enriches the music lover's interior and provides satisfaction. Monday 24 th June – Sunday 11 th August 2013 Launch Night & Performance: Thursday 27 th June 2013 Doors Open: 7.00pm /// Free Entry The Jam Factory presents an exhibition of mixed media paintings, animations and performances by Steve Jolliffe.

Working in sound, video, oil, watercolour, gouache, pastel and digital pen, Steve’s multi-disciplinary output underlines an explorative and experimental impetus at the heart of his creative and expressive method. The association between visual abstraction and music, between non-figurative systems of expression, is fundamental to Sound Art and reflects a preoccupation shared by Kandinsky’s “visual music” and Goethe’s colour theories. Aside from the extensive collection of abstract mixed-media paintings on display, this tendency is similarly implicit in Steve’s video installations which synchronise audio compositions with a number of his animation projects. My vision is to present a collection of paintings, music and animation projects which provide a creative and constantly-evolving exploration of sound and colour Alongside Steve’s paintings and video installations, Sound Art will feature a number of evening performances. Trained at the Berlin Konservatorium, former-member of bands ‘Steamhammer’ and ‘Tangerine Dream’, and an acclaimed film composer and solo artist, Steve’s performances will provide the expressive focus of the exhibition and the explorative platform upon which to experience his ‘total art-forms.’

Whilst in Germany he joined ‘Tangerine Dream’ before returning to the UK in 1970 and joining blues/rock band, ‘Steamhammer.’ After rejoining ‘Tangerine Dream’ for a spell in the late 70s he returned to the UK in 80s and pursued a solo career composing scores for several features including the award-winning documentary ‘Tattoo’. In addition to an extensive collection of paintings and installation pieces, Steve has over 35 solo albums to his credit.
