City of Dawn - Transient Lounge
English text below
Autorem projektu City of Dawn jest Damien Duque nagrywający swoją muzykę w McAllen, Teksas. A ta potrafi zachwycić. Polecam!
City of Dawn is the project of Damien Duque, who records his music in McAllen, Texas. Such biographical details reveal little about the artist unless you have actually heard his music—which can be truly enchanting. "Transient Lounge" falls squarely into the realm of "ambient," "guitar ambient," and "drone," drawing inspiration—as the composer himself explains—from life and its various emotions. With great skill, Duque paints harmonious sonic landscapes that offer profound relaxation, solace, and healing. Indeed, this is the artist’s explicit intention: for his music to serve as a form of remedy for various ailments of the mind. By employing the long, sustained phrases characteristic of this genre and treating his sounds with a variety of effects, Duque demonstrates a highly unconventional imagination. The album evokes vast, meditative spaces—an invitation to a journey that, however, comes to an end rather quickly; it consists of only five tracks and lasts no more than half an hour.
Yet, this is time well spent, and you can explore—or purchase—more of his work on Bandcamp. Highly recommended!
