 Prawie rok temu fani klasycznej odmiany muzyki elektronicznej mieli możliwość wysłuchać i bawić się przy spektakularnym widowisku. Jean Michel Jarre przygotował wirtualny koncert „Welcome To The Other Side”, inspirowany wnętrzami paryskiego zabytku, czyli Kaplicy Notre-Dame.   Połączenie występu na żywo z komputerowymi projekcjami zabytkowego obiektu robiło wrażenie. Imprezie towarzyszyło też wzniosłe przesłanie nadziei na przyszły rok. W materiałach reklamowych można było przeczytać o "symbolu siły który nas łączy i hołdzie dla światowego dziedzictwa". Zostawię te wielkie słowa bez komentarza. Bardziej skupię się na muzyce którą zaproponował Ambasador Dobrej Woli UNESCO -Jean Michel Jarre. 

 Cóż, pierwszych kilka minut to była mroczna, trzymająca w napięciu muzyka. Bardzo taką lubię. Potem jednak napięcie opadło, a francuski muzyk zaproponował publiczności muzykę do tańca, niczym nieskrępowaną zabawę. Czy ten pomysł zyskał twoje uznanie? Być może niektórzy ze starych fanów byli zawiedzeni oczekując czegoś bardziej ambitnego? Ale bez wątpienia Jarre pozyskał sobie nowych zwolenników z młodszego pokolenia. Muzyka miała konkretny użytkowy cel - dostarczyć rozrywki. Francuski kompozytor oprócz talentów muzycznych ma również wyczucie biznesowe i po prostu dostosował się do obecnych wymagań i trendów. Jean Michel Jarre prepared a virtual concert "Welcome To The Other Side", inspired by the interiors of the Parisian monument, ie the Notre-Dame Chapel.   Well, the first few minutes it was dark, suspenseful music. I like it very much. Then, however, the tension eased, and the French musician offered the audience music for the dance, uninhibited fun. Has this idea gained your approval? Perhaps some of the old fans were disappointed to expect something more ambitious? But Jarre undoubtedly gained new followers from a younger generation. Music had a specific utility purpose - to provide entertainment. The French composer, apart from musical talents, also has a business sense and has simply adapted to the current requirements and trends. Apparently, the concert was watched by 75 million people. For a more demanding listener, Jean-Michel publishes an interesting project Amazonia a few months later. The entire "Welcome To The Other Side" concert is available on Blu-Ray, CD and Vinyl, and loyal fans can purchase these materials.  Brytyjski muzyk Steve Dinsdale od ponad 30 lat działa na muzycznej scenie. Najbardziej znany jest z formacji RMI - zespołu o dość dziwnej nazwie Radio Massacre International. Pod tym szyldem wydano sporo muzyki, zazwyczaj na nośniku CD-ROM i bardzo często są to koncerty. Improwizacje na żywo wydają się być ulubionym zajęciem członków zespołu. Przyznaję że dobrze się słucha dyskografii RMI i grupa ma wielu zagorzałych fanów. Co jakiś czas Steve Dinsdale wydaje solowy projekt i właśnie jestem po przesłuchaniu płyty Light and Dark z roku 2018. Tytuł może wydawać się bezpretensjonalny ale zawartość czyli sześć krótkich utworów (EP) jest dość wyrafinowana. Bardzo różnorodne formy słychać już w pierwszym utworze - elektryczne gitary, melotron, efekty taśmy (Dark Time), ambitne eksperymenty (Dark Chambers), ale też przystępne melodie (First Light). To piękny utwór, chwytający za serce. Steve lubi używać tradycyjnej perkusji jak i dźwięków fortepianu. Muzyka pełna jest pomysłów. Autor z wyczuciem stylu miesza dźwięki we właściwych proporcjach. Dzięki temu słuchacz otrzymuje interesujące i wartościowe muzyczne treści. Ostatni utwór pod tytułem 'Ibiza' - jest lekki i rześki jak chłodny wiatr w upalny dzień, to doskonałe podsumowanie krótkiej całości. Niesamowite.. Jak on to robi? Wielki szacunek dla artysty.

  British musician Steve Dinsdale has been active in the music scene for over 30 years. He is best known from the RMI formation - a band with a rather strange name Radio Massacre International. A lot of music has been released under this banner, usually on CD-ROM, and very often these are concerts. Live improvisations seem to be a favorite activity of the band members. I admit that the RMI discography is good to listen to and the group has a lot of die-hard fans. Every now and then Steve Dinsdale releases a solo project and I'm just after listening to the 2018 album Light and Dark. The title may seem unpretentious but the content of six short tracks (EP) is quite refined. You can hear a variety of forms already in the first track - electric guitars, melotron, tape effects (Dark Time), ambitious experiments (Dark Chambers), but also accessible melodies (First Light). It is a beautiful piece, touching the heart. Steve enjoys using traditional drums as well as piano sounds. Music is full of ideas. The author mixes sounds in the right proportions with a sense of style. As a result, the listener receives interesting and valuable musical content. The last track, entitled 'Ibiza' - is light and crisp like a cool wind on a hot day, it is a perfect summary of a short whole. Amazing .. How does he do it? Great respect for the artist.

John Carpenter's - Escape from New York

 W 1981 roku ukazał się film pod tytułem "Ucieczka z Nowego Jorku". Amerykański reżyser John Carpenter stworzył dość mroczna historię w której główną rolę zagrał Kurt Russell. Jego antybohater - Snake Plissken - ma za zadanie uwolnić prezydenta USA z rąk przestępców którzy zamieszkują Manhattan zamieniony w więzienie. Ciekawej fabule towarzyszyła charakterystyczna muzyka skomponowana przez reżysera Johna Carpentera. Udowodnił w ten sposób że jest nie tylko sprawnym reżyserem, ale również zdolnym kompozytorem. Większość utworów bazuje na dźwiękach wydobywanych z syntezatorów. Świetnie pasują one do futurystycznej oprawy filmu. Pochody linii basowych doskonale podkreślają napięcie towarzyszące wydarzeniom, a długie pady dodają uczucie odrealnienia, niesamowitości. Proste melodie na tle skromnych sekwencji robią lepsze wrażenie niż tradycyjna orkiestra symfoniczna której całe szczęście nie ma na tym soundtracku. Podobać się mogą też nieskomplikowane bity i efekty "clap" bo ten film to jest przecież kino rozrywkowe. Tak, ten materiał to po prostu dobry film i dobra muzyka. 

Płyta CD do tego obrazu to przynajmniej trzy różne wersje i ponad 50 wydań w różnych krajach.  Po blisko 20 latach od premiery filmu, w roku 2000, John Carpenter i Alan Howard opracowali nowe, rozszerzone wydanie płyty. Alan szczegółowo opisuje ten proces na okładce. Oprócz znanych motywów dodano siedem wcześniej nie publikowanych ścieżek, a niektóre fragmenty można usłyszeć w innej aranżacji. Na keybordzie w utworze Engulfed Cathedral gra Pamela Smith, a w utworze The Duke Arrives na gitarze zagrał Tommy Wallace. Jako przerywniki umieszczono też sporo zabawnych dialogów bohaterów, między innymi Lee Van Cleefa którego pamięci poświęcono ten album.

  In 1981, the movie "Escape from New York" was released. American director John Carpenter has created a rather dark story in which Kurt Russell played the main role. His anti-hero - Snake Plissken - is to free the US president from the hands of criminals who live in Manhattan turned into a prison. An interesting plot was accompanied by characteristic music composed by director John Carpenter. In this way he proved that he is not only an efficient director, but also a talented composer. Most of the songs are based on sounds extracted from synthesizers. They fit perfectly into the futuristic setting of the film. The bass line runs perfectly emphasize the tension accompanying the events, and the long pads add a feeling of unreal, weirdness. Simple melodies against the background of modest sequences make a better impression than the traditional symphony orchestra which is fortunately not featured on this soundtrack. You can also like the uncomplicated beats and "clap" effects because this movie is after all an entertainment cinema. Yes, this material is just a good movie and good music.

 The CD for this painting is at least three different versions and over 50 editions in different countries. Nearly 20 years after the film's premiere, in 2000, John Carpenter and Alan Howard developed a new, extended release of the album. Alan details the process on the cover. In addition to known themes, seven previously unpublished tracks have been added, and some excerpts can be heard in a different arrangement. Pamela Smith plays the keyboard on the song Engulfed Cathedral and Tommy Wallace on the guitar on The Duke Arrives. As cutscenes, there are also a lot of funny dialogues of the characters, including Lee Van Cleef, whose memory this album is dedicated to.

 Muzyka koncertowa to specyficzny rodzaj emocji. Wykonawcy chwalą sobie kontakt z publicznością a  audytorium bardzo intensywnie przeżywa to co płynie do nich z podium. Dobry zapis koncertu to nie zawsze satysfakcjonująca sprawa, jednak nagrania o której dzisiaj piszę są najwyższej próby. 

 10 listopada 2018 roku w Holandii miało miejsce wspaniałe wydarzenie. W Centrum Kultury Oirschot - De Enck - zagrało dwóch utalentowanych artystów: Johannes Schmoelling i Robert Waters. Występ ten był pretekstem do podsumowania ponad 30 lat muzycznych doświadczeń austriackiego kompozytora.   Wszystkie nagrania zostały pieczołowicie zarejestrowane w formie audio i wideo. Wydawnictwo zawiera dwie płyty audio i cztery płyty DVD.  Kompozycje z solowych płyt Johannesa, wybrane utwory zespołu Tangerine Dream w nowej aranżacji, a nawet hołd oddany klasykowi muzyki poważnej. Dźwięki które słychać z Theater De Enck to prawdziwa uczta dla uszu melomana. Zawsze byłem zdania że dobrą muzykę można poddać ponownej aranżacji i tak się też stało w przypadku opisywanego koncertu. Nagrania brzmią inaczej niż w oryginalnej wersji ale równie dobrze. I to jest piękne. Wszystko jest tu na swoim miejscu: przestrzeń stereofonia, aplauz publiczności. Pełny profesjonalizm i sztuka. Jestem szczęśliwy że mogłem poznać ten materiał i do niego wracać.   Concert music is a specific kind of emotion. The performers appreciate the contact with the audience and the audience very intensely experiences what flows to them from the podium.  On November 10, 2018, a great event took place in the Netherlands. Two talented artists played at the Oirschot Cultural Center - De Enck -: Johannes Schmoelling and Robert Waters. This performance was a pretext to summarize over 30 years of musical experience of the Austrian composer. All recordings were carefully recorded in the form of audio and video. The release includes two audio discs and four DVDs. Compositions from Johannes' solo albums, selected pieces of the Tangerine Dream band in a new arrangement, and even a tribute to the classic of classical music. The sounds that can be heard from Theater De Enck are a real feast for the ears of music lover. I have always believed that good music can be rearranged, and that is what happened in this concert.  Geir Jenssen jest jednym z tych muzyków, którzy w fascynujący sposób poszerzają odbiór muzyki o nowe doznania. Jego projekt Biosphere przysporzył mu zwolenników na całym świecie To minimalistyczna muzyka wywołująca maksymalne emocje. Norweski kompozytor wydał wiele znaczących dla gatunku płyt: Microgravity, Patashnik, Insomnia, Substrata to miód dla uszu. Potem były jednak nagrania które sugerowały wypalenie artysty.

  W 2017 roku ukazuje się mini album The Petrified Forest inspirowany starym kryminałem o tym samym tytule. I powiem szczerze: to doskonała muzyka. Geir znajduje równowagę, złoty środek między muzyką ambitną a komercyjną.. Przystępne nagrania które nie wymagają wyrafinowanego odbiorcy, ale same w sobie są wartościowe.
